Pandi’s Legacy is a small 100% non-profit organisation registered in Scotland (SC046062) raising funds to help deliver education to the children of Gambia.
Our ambitious founder, Jackie, knew she couldn't change the world but was determined to make a difference where she could.
In 2007 when visiting Gambia she came across The Kunta Kinteh Nursery in the town of Tallinding, Serrekunda. The children were all so desperate to learn but they were being taught in horrendous conditions - the classroom was little more than a one-room shack, there was no equipment, so much so the kids were doing their sums in the sand! There was no running water, toilets or electricity and the children were desperately in need of food and clothes.
Jackie came home full of determination and campaigned tirelessly raising over £20K. This money kick started the change to Kunta Kinteh; first a new nursery school was built with four equipped classrooms, toilets with running water, electricity, even a computer and printer! This meant that over 90 children aged between 4 to 7 years were able to attend the nursery school.
Over the years we have been able to support Kunta Kinteh in not only the growth of the nursery but also the introduction of a primary school in 2017 so that we can provide further education – up to Grade 6. Now more than 260 girls and boys receive a high level of education in a safe and secure environment.
Our efforts do not stop there, we are involved in various community projects, that has changed the living conditions and future of hundreds of families in the local area.
